Type of service: automotive repair.  Project details: Need to replace ignition cylinder and recharge battery (hoping it will recharge or have to replace). My car IS IN VALET MODE and have tried many tricks to get the Theft Deterrent to recognize key and start. It is a 1996 Buick Skylark Custom 2.4 liter which this problem is common in..  Start of services: I should receive part in mail by 05-02-2019. Anytime after can have mechanic to come to residence (so not have to be towed, again) in an apartment complex to see if this repair will get started. Battery is completely dead from too many attempts to get out theft mode. Though was recharged several times, it still not start and after 4 hours trying, decided try having ignition replaced. If this does NOT get out Valet Mode, then remove new ignition so I can return and put back old one. Then I do not know what I am doing with the car...maybe sell for parts (only 75,000 miles with new brakes,shocks/struts,other parts)..  Additional info: Has been two three auto shops to fix starting problem, including dealership. Although dealership knows what problem is, they were unable to bypass the THEFT DETERRENT so it will consistently start. Their 10 minute rule to keep in on position before trying to start does not always work and drains the battery at times even if I keep a portable charger hooked while waiting..
