About
Heating and A/C (Air Conditioning) Repair
If your a/c or heat is out or not blowing as cold or warm as it used to, give me a call/text . I do preventative maintenance, repairs, tune ups, system performance checks and second opinions. I don't do complete system replacements anymore so you will get an unbiased assessment of whether to repair or replace if the repairs would be non-cost effective. A non-maintained system will cause much higher utility bills and maintenance is suggested at least once per year to keep the system running optimal.
I have a licensed home business, am insured, and file/pay business taxes. You could save between 40-60 percent off of the same repairs... see example repair at the bottom... Why? I have a full time job with benefits and I don't have the high overheads of large companies with multiple employees and vehicles. I accept cash, checks and the major credit cards.
I have been in the home repair and HVAC business for 15+ years as a side job. Warranties are provided for the parts I install and vary with the factory warranty on the part itself. I have a pretty extensive truck stock of motors (blower and condenser), capacitors (single and dual), defrost boards, thermostats, transformers, etc. so most all repairs can be completed on the spot.
For those with older R22 systems that need the Freon topped off each year due to small leaks, save money by getting your units charged earlier in the season because the last leg of the Montreal Protocol started this year (2015). This government regulation is the phase out of ozone harming CFC's) which has reduced the available stock of R22 this year to less than half of what was available last year. There has already been a steady rise in the cost of R22 at supply houses and a continued rise is expected. I will hold my price at $65 per pound until my current stock is depleted and I have to restock (current competition's price is $125-$150). Those with the newer R410a systems aren't affected in any way.
Below is a comparison of my prices vs. current competition.
Trip fee. . .
-My trip fee which includes full diagnostic. . . $50 for Apex and Cary and $75 for Durham and Raleigh
-Competition trip fee with 15 min diagnostic time. . .average competition $125
-R22 My Price $65 per lb with no labor charge
-Average competition $125 per lb + labor charge and typically a 2 pound minimum charge
Capacitor
-My prices from $69 and up (based on capacitor needed) and includes labor
-Average competition from $119 and up with labor
So as an example. . .if you happened to need 2 pounds of Freon and a standard 5uf capacitor
My charge for the repair. . .274 + tax
Average competition's charge for the repair. . .$494-$619 depending on how long the tech takes to complete the repair
