About
Hi everybody!
My name is Melissa, I'm a drummer and a multi instrumentalist from Buenos Aires, Argentina, now relocated to Los Angeles. I've been drumming for 18 years, and studied drums under some of the worlds best drummers at the Escuela de Musica Contemporanea in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I'm proficient in a number of styles, both as a live drummer and a session musician. I currently teach drum lessons, in addition to producing, recording, and performing my own music.
I can teach you how to play drums, and how to read, write, and produce your own rhythms. I cover a number of different techniques and rudiments, including double bass techniques. I can teach many styles, including rock, metal, jazz, latin, etc. I can show you how to tune your drum set correctly AND the most important thing that I can teach you is how to SOUND good and become a professional drummer.
I'll get straight to the point, if you don't know how to play drums, you will learn how to play in the first class. If you already play drums, I'm going to focus on your weak points and make you a better and creative drummer!
Each lesson will be prepared and customized for each student, some of the things I will cover include:
-How to set up your drums
-Drum tuning
-Coordination
-Total control of your grip
-Hands and feet rudiments
-How to get the natural rebound from the stick
-The four drum strokes ( up, down, full and tap )
-Patterns with different ostinatos
-How to create tasty and powerful fills
-Double bass techniques
-Blast beat techniques
-Playing with metronome/click
-Developing good tempo/timing
-Groove
-Music theory
-Read and write music
-Build rhythms and drum solos
-Different styles Rock, Jazz, Latin, Metal, etc
-Proper use of different cymbals and parts of the drums
-Learn songs from your favorite bands
-Find your own voice (through drums)
-Prepare yourself for recordings
All ages, beginners, intermediate and advance students are welcome!
