About
Welcome to Ancient Arts: Kuk Sool Kwan Hapkido, in Irvine.
Ancient Arts in Irvine teaches a system of martial arts that is in use by the Korean Special Forces, and is taught to Secret Service and bodyguard personnel around the world. It was brought to the US in 1982 by Huh Mon Gil, the man who designed the special forces program in South Korea which they use to this very day. He also served as instructor to the presidential bodyguards - an important position considering the constant enmity with North Korea.
This is a single art called Kuk Sool that dates back to royal times, which teaches:
kickboxing - "kyuk tu ki"
grappling - "jo ru ki"
joint locks - "hap ki"
blade fighting - "kum ki"
stick fighting - "jun bong ki"
archery - "gung sool"
meditation - "kigong"
philosophy - "yea eue"
healing arts - "yak bub"
Both acupuncture treatment and private lessons are available. Call for appointment and pricing.
