My name is Joshua Turner, I have been singing seriously since I was 16 years old. My styles are mainly rock & folk, although I was trained in many singing styles including opera. I got my vocal training from the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston where I studied voice for 2 years. I was trained by the best vocal teachers in the country and I have lots of Berklee curriculum to base my teachings off of. I also attended Musicians Institute for guitar for a short time.

My teaching style is very simple and to the point, the goal is to learn how to sing. I don't like to get too technical about it because it can actually slow your progression down if you do. The simplest way that I was taught was that "if it hurts, you are singing wrong." That is why vocal exercises are so important to keep your voice strong so you can build stamina and avoid pain, I also have audio vocal exercises that I can provide. I don't like to put people down while they are learning because I know singing is a really sensitive thing and that could cause the singer to stop singing COMPLETELY, which defeats the whole purpose.

I have found more and more that learning to sing is much deeper than just singing, it is also learning confidence, how to speak up for yourself in a powerful way, how to develop more of an identity within yourself, and often times, how to break through emotional blocks that we have all put on ourselves at a young age. Did you know that being up on stage if front of an audience is the #1 fear in the world, AND DEATH IS #2! So what that shows is that it takes a brave person to dedicate themselves to learning how to sing in front of people, or even in front of just themselves! It is a great way for children, teens, and even adults to become stronger, happier, and more confident individuals not only in singing, but in their every day lives. I have seen this confidence blossom over and over especially with the children and teens that I teach, and it is extremely fulfilling for both me, as well as them! So I encourage you to pass the gift of learning how to sing on to friends, family and loved ones!
