Piano and Voice lessons with experienced teacher Sara Flores.

TEACHING APPROACH:
I give my students a well-rounded balance of developing creativity, mastering healthy technique, understanding music theory, improving sight-reading, exploring improvisation and composition, and nurturing inner expression. Let's not forget having fun, either!

As a part of developing healthy, expressive technique, I incorporate my studies of the Alexander Technique, Body Mapping, and the Lister-Sink Method to cultivate healthy posture, free movement, and prevent injury. Healthy technique is so important because "the incidence of playing-related injury continues to hover around 60 to 70% into the 21st century" (Freeing the Caged Bird, 2006)

THE TEACHER:
I hold a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Music (Vocal Performance) from Lewis & Clark College. I have eight years of experience teaching students of all ages, including young children and students with special needs. I have studied Alexander Technique with Lisa Marsh and Mary Lois Misken, studied classical piano for 16 years and studied classical and jazz singing for 7 years. I also offer experience in improvisation, songwriting, singing with a band, and concert tours.

THE DETAILS:
-Available time slots: Mondays at 3:00, 3:30 or 4:00 pm,
-Recital opportunities every spring and fall
-Participation in local competitions available for interested students
-I teach in Westminster, near 92nd and Sheridan
-I teach piano and singing to ages 5 and up
