Trumpet Lessons

Mission: Work with a student to advance their knowledge of not only music theory and the instrument but their ability to work with their desired instrument and have fun playing what they would like.

Expenses

$25 per 30-45 minute lessons (lesson location discussed when scheduled, willing to do wherever)
Initial $7 for Standard of Excellence book 1 for trumpet ordered by teacher
Practice Expectations

20-30 minutes per day (4-5 days a week desired; more if possible)
Simple flash card review when possible
Mouthpiece buzzing for a couple minutes before playing (will be explained during lessons)
Practicing songs assigned as well as band assignments (band takes priority so will work with that versus what is assigned in book if needed, or just work on band songs)
Lesson Breakdown (30-45 minutes, and all times approximate depending on advancement)

5 minutes of beats and note lengths until understood
5 minutes of flash cards, terms and simple theory
5-10 minutes of piano/mouthpiece work (promotes less pressure on lips and better tone)
10-20 minutes of skills/songs
Extra time devoted to misc (fun/band/ or assigned songs)
Advanced Learning (if desired)

This can be done during extra time if the student wishes
Working with other brass instruments such as Trombone and Baritone (I have both these instruments, and their mouthpieces are bigger and may prove to help a beginner trumpet student advance their lip adjustment, or embouchure on the trumpet.
